Samsung S8 and S8 Plus Review

After so much wait, Samsung now goes official with their next set of flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. These will be the competition for smartphones like LG G6 and upcoming iPhone 8. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are very similar but go with different screen sizes which will be their main difference.

The design of the device(s) is somewhat similar to the S7 but the look and build of them are very new and feels splendid. It is crafted in a premium glass structure that is covered by a metal frame. The front of the device flaunts the beautifully laid display with almost no bezels. The removal of the hardware home key has allowed Samsung to achieve such feat.

Under the hood, the devices feature same internals except for the battery. The S8+ comes with a slightly bigger battery. The international version that will go on sale everywhere other than the U.S. will use Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 SoC (2.3GHz Quad + 1.7GHz Quad) based on 10nm FinFET technology inside. The U.S. version will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with the same 10nm FinFET technology from Samsung. Both smartphones will have 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB internal storage that is UFS 2.1. There is microSD slot for expansion of storage and also Dual SIM capability depending on the market.

The camera on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is 12 MP Dual Pixel sensor with f/1.7 on the back. It has OIS and PDAF with 4K video capture capability and 9 MP image capture while video too. It can record 4K video at 60 FPS and Full HD slow-motion video at 120 FPS. The front camera is a 8 MP AF sensor with f/1.7.
