The mobile phone industry is a very innovative segment within the ICT sector and the smartphone is becoming the standard configuration among the different types of mobile devices. Technical change and new product proliferation have made this industry extremely dynamic, even if market shares are highly concentrated in the hands of very few companies. Smartphones have come a long way, we all now have access to 4G and video calls. With the rising competition, one surprising brand which catches our eye is Xiaomi Redmi. Priced at Rs. 16,500, Redmi note 5 Pro is the first of the few to be produced with the 1.8 GHz Octa core Qualcomm SDM636 Snapdragon 636 Processor.

DESIGN

The new edition ,Xiaomi Redmi note 5 pro has a nice, slick and a classy appearance. It is light weighted and has a good build up quality just like all the other redmi series. But it’s basically a continuation of the previous redmi phones. Although the design is classy but the look is simple. It’s not extremely gorgeous, stand out device by any means.

PERFORMANCE

Unlike all the other phones recently launched, redmi note 5 pro stands out in terms of it’s performance. It has an excellent and outstanding, in short a stellar performance. The defining aspect for the Note 5 Pro may be the excellent new chip that powers it – the Snapdragon 636.

It has excellent loading times for heavy games, opening multiple apps or just switching between multiple heavy apps and games. In terms of both benchmarks, and real life use, it blows every other phone in the price bracket. The phone hardly gets warm even after playing games on the phone for an hour straight.

SOFTWARE

MIUI interface over Android is snappy, and offers some added features such as dual apps and second space. With this Excellent feature ” dual app” we can run separate accounts of the same service/app. While MIUI is one of the nicer Android UIs, it does have some bloat in terms of unneeded apps – and a lot of people still prefer a more stock Android approach.

DISPLAY

It has a screen of 5.99 inch 18:9 display. It has a high brightness level and good viewing angles. It has an excellent color reproduction. In short it has a pleasant outlook. In spite of the large screen, the phone remains quite ergonomic because of the tall, minimal-bezel form factor.

CAMERA

The redmi note 5 pro has come up with an awesome camera with all the features in demane, at present. It has launched very good set of dual cameras at the rear – 12MP primary camera with a sensor size of 1.25um and an aperture of f/2.2 and the secondary is 5MP camera which is used for depth sensing only and has a sensor size of 1.12um with f/2.0 aperture. The camera captures even the smallest amount of details and has a good color reproduction. The low light image capabilities are equally good and the camera has good dynamic range – even the portrait  images look better than most of its competitors , they carry plenty of details and the background blur is also quite good.

Even the front camera too takes good images in all kinds of lighting conditions. It also comes with software based portrait image, which lets us take that ‘Bokeh’ image with background blur and is quite decent.

Camera

AUDIO

It also excels in audio. People can hear crystal clear voice/sound. Even through headphones, good quality of sound is heard.

Battery
It has a stella battery life. It can run for two days straight, continuing the tradition of the Redmi Note series.
Decent (though not great) charging speed takes a little over two hours to fully charge the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro’s 4000mAh battery.

Ever since Xiaomi joined Samsung as the top-selling smartphone in Indian smartphone market at the end of 2017, as per IDC, it was only a matter of time the Chinese company took the title for itself. And that’s what has happened. According to the latest figures from IDC, Xiaomi has been crowned the king of the Indian smartphone market beating the chaebol during the fourth quarter of the year 2017, creating a certain pressure on Xiaomi to remain the leader. The Phone comes with a large 4000 mAh battery to support it’s 5.99 inch screen with FHD Plus display having a resolution of 1080 x 2160 at 403 ppi. The screen is also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. The Xiaomi Note 5 Pro is hands down a great phone. It has a powerful processor and a good camera, not just on paper but in experience as well.
